The Beacon at Cameron Island
The Beacon is part of an upscale condominium development built on Cameron Island in the 1990s. The 26-storey tower houses 120 units of beautiful residences on the ocean harbour in the heart of Nanaimo, Vancouver Island’s second largest city. The Beacon offers the best of both worlds; only steps away from the historic downtown commercial area, theatre, museum, galleries, library and restaurants, plus magnificent views of Newcastle and Protection Islands, and the snow-capped mountains of the mainland.
From The Beacon, residents can view the ever-changing character of the harbour; from the ferries to Gabriola Island and Protection Island, to all manner of fishing boats and sailing vessels, both large and small, which tie up in the Boat Basin and the visiting pier year-round. A small seaplane terminal operates regular flights from the harbour to Vancouver and its airport. Residents can walk the sea wall that circles Cameron Island then stretches through the beautiful Maffeo Sutton Park to Departure Bay, five kilometers away.
Residents of The Beacon enjoy an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool and spa, and an exercise room complete with the latest in exercise equipment, and there is a large recreational room to congregate, socialize, or exchange a book at the small library. Saturday morning coffee get-togethers are popular, as are bridge and game nights. The Beacon has something for everyone.
The three buildings that comprise the Cameron Island residences feature secure underground parking, walkways that curve around the buildings and landscaped gardens and trees, and a unique lagoon. The Beacon is truly a perfect setting for everything the city has to offer in modern living design.
